Ironman Mont-Tremblant 2012 – tips from the locals for our guests!

Ironmen and Ironwomen, we are thrilled to welcome you to Tremblant for the 2012 Ironman competition!  To be ready and better informed than any other competitor for this important event, here are some suggestions from the locals, so read our tips, and get the most of your training and trip in our beautiful region!

Friendly places to practice swimming: Lake Tremblant (at Tremblant resort), Lake Mercier (in Tremblant Old Village), Lake Moore (in Tremblant Old Village), Lake Raynaud (at Domaine St-Bernard – 5 min. from Tremblant resort) offer pristine waters and easy beach access from the resort.

Friendly places to practice biking: Domaine St-Bernard offers smoother trails but more challenging trails can be found  via the “Club de Vélo Mont-Tremblant” who provides maps with directions, mileage, circuits;  probably the best reference for biking routes for all levels (cycling maps and mountain biking trails maps;  the Canada Cup course is also one the best routes to train. Once again, the “Club de Vélo Mont-Tremblant” is the reference #1 in providing information and maps.

Best running trails leading from the resort:  the 15km circuit of the multifunctional trail around Tremblant Resort is paved, easy and offers lots of shadow.  Of course, the best trail running can be found directly on the mountain, with the choice between 12 different hiking trails from 1 to 9 km. By hiking up the “Sentier des Caps” or the “Grand Brûlé” to the top and switching trails to come back down, it is one of the locals favourite workout. For gravel routes off resort, the “Parc Linéaire du P’tit Train du Nord” offers hundreds of kilometers of trails meant for biking but also for running.  The “Corridor aérobique” offers 58 km of various running course, with more hills and less people.

Best spas to relax and pamper your muscles:  Spa le Scandinave is located 7 minutes drive from the resort and offers a great variety of hot and cold baths, sauna, steam bath, massages, relaxation rooms with zero gravity chairs, and of course, the refreshing water from the Devil’s River.  Some hotels of the resort also have their own spa, we invite you to consult our website for the best Mont Tremblant Spa’s.

Best at home massage therapists:  there is definitely nothing comparable than coming back from your swim, trail run or bike run and enjoy an at home massage or body treatment in the comfort and luxury of your Tremblant Living chalet or condo!  See our recommendations for at home massage therapists.

Healthiest restaurant:  Tremblant offers a wide range of all kinds of different restaurants, but to take advantage of eating fresh local products from the farms of the region, the “Auberge la Petite Cachée” offers a healthy, Mediterranean exquisite fine cuisine, using only local organic products:  www.petitecachee.com.  Its terrace with view on the mountain and its log home style, in a casual environment is a locals’ favourite that you will definitely appreciate too!
